BABYSITTING CERTIFICATION

 Level up your skills and become a caring, trustworthy, and competent babysitter at the H.A.R.T. Community Center! This comprehensive five-day course is designed to give you the "Strategy Guide" you need to succeed as a young professional. 


Course Highlights:


  • The Business of Babysitting: Learn how to build a professional reputation, create a resume, and negotiate your rates.
  • Child Development: Master "Ages and Stages" and gain practical knowledge on safe infant care and potty training.
  • Hands-On Skills: Get direct practice with essential care tasks like diapering, bottle-feeding, and meal preparation.
  • Safety & Emergencies: Learn how to keep children safe indoors and out, identify home hazards, and follow emergency procedures for injury or illness.
  • Character & Behavior: Explore the Six Pillars of Character—Responsibility, Caring, Respect, Trustworthiness, Citizenship, and Fairness—to help you guide behavior and manage challenges like a pro .

Course Details:

  • Dates: Monday, June 15th – Friday, June 19th, 2026.
  • Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM daily.
  • Location: H.A.R.T. Community Center.
  • Tuition: $25.00 (We offer a "Pay What You Can" option to ensure all local youth can participate!).


  • Graduation: Join us Friday, June 19th at 5:00 PM to receive your certification and enjoy cookies and refreshments with family and friends!

Ready to be Your Own Boss? Join the 2026 Teen Venture Challenge!


 This isn't a simulation or a "pretend" class. It’s the real deal. In just 10 days, you will transform an idea into a real business, manufacture real products, and make real money at a public market.  


Program Details


Dates June 22 - July 6th


  • Class Dates: June 22 – July 3, 2026  (Mon - Fri 2 pm - 4pm) HART COMMUNITY CENTER 


  • Market Day: July 4th at Riverfront Park (Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration)  10:30 am - 6:00 pm
  • Payday & Celebration: July 6th (2 pm - 4 pm)  HART COMMUNITY CENTER

Choose Your Track

Whether you are a maker or a doer, we have a path for you:  


  • Product Only: Focus 100% on creating and selling a physical item.  
  • Service + Product: Use a small product to hook customers and book future service clients (like lawn care, babysitting, or tech support).  

What You’ll Do


  • Week 1: From Idea to Blueprint  
    • Master "Money Math" (Cost, Price, and Profit).  
    • Design your Brand Identity—name, colors, and vibe.  
    • Pitch your idea to your peers for feedback.  
  • Week 2: From Blueprint to Booth  
    • Use professional tools like the Cricut for custom labels and signage.  
    • Build 10+ units of inventory.  
    • Design a high-impact booth and practice the "30-second pitch."  
    • Run a Mock Market dress rehearsal to polish your sales skills.  

The "Seed Fund" & Rules

We provide the roadmap; you provide the hustle.


  • Budget: Every student has a $50 production budget.  
  • Inventory: You must produce at least 10 units to sell.  
  • Partnerships: Want to work with friends? You can form a team of up to 3 partners.  
  • Keep Your Profits: All sales are tracked through our iPad checkout system, and you keep your hard-earned profit!

Sewing 101

RESUMING SEPTEMBER 2026


Are you ready to dive into the world of sewing? Whether you're a beginner or just looking to refresh your skills, our Sewing 101 course is the perfect place to start!


🗓️ When: Fridays, 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
📍 Where: Hart Center, 254 Smith St.
💲 Cost: $5/class


Course Highlights:

  • Learn the basics of sewing in a friendly and supportive environment.
  • Bring your own patterns and fabric.
  • Project: Make your very own pajama bottoms!

Board meetings are generally held the 3rd Monday of each Month at 5:30 PM Location: HART Community Center, 354 Smith St (next to/behind the Senior Center)
